How We Derive Our Numbers

Most conversions between mass and molar units come directly from a substance's molecular weight, so each analyte has its own factor: glucose uses about 18, cholesterol about 38.67, and triglycerides about 88.57. We publish the factor and the molecular weight on every page so the maths is transparent, and we cross-check reference ranges against recognised guideline sources such as the American Diabetes Association, the National Kidney Foundation, the American College of Rheumatology and endocrinology references.
